What happens if I just click search without entering an IP?
The tool will automatically detect and display information about your current IP address.
About IP Information
What information can I get about an IP address?
Our lookup provides:
- Country and country code
- State/Region
- City
- Timezone
- ISP (Internet Service Provider)
- Organization
- Latitude and Longitude coordinates
How accurate is the geolocation data?
Our geolocation data is typically accurate to the city level (within 10-20km in most cases). However, accuracy can vary based on the IP type (residential, corporate, VPN, etc.) and data source availability.
What does ISP mean?
ISP stands for Internet Service Provider. This is the company that provides internet connectivity to the IP address holder.
What's the difference between ISP and Organization?
The ISP is the internet service provider. The Organization is the entity that owns or operates the IP address, which may be different from the ISP.
Privacy & Security
Do you store my search history?
No. We don't store, log, or track any IP addresses you look up. Each search is independent and anonymous.
Is my data secure?
Yes. All connections to IP Trace Tool are encrypted (HTTPS). We don't collect personal information and don't use cookies or tracking technologies.
Can you identify who owns a specific IP address?
We provide information about the ISP and organization associated with an IP address, but we cannot identify individual users. For more detailed ownership information, contact the ISP directly.
Troubleshooting
I'm getting an error message. What should I do?
Please verify:
- The IP address format is correct (e.g., 192.168.1.1)
- Your internet connection is working
- Try refreshing the page
- Try a different IP address to see if the issue persists
Why is the geolocation data incorrect?
IP geolocation data comes from various sources and may not always be 100% accurate. VPNs, proxies, and corporate networks may show different locations than expected. If you believe data is incorrect, please let us know.
Can I search for a domain name instead of an IP address?
Currently, IP Trace Tool accepts IP addresses. To look up a domain, you can use a DNS lookup tool to find the IP address associated with the domain, then enter that IP in our tool.
Features & Capabilities
Do you have an API?
Currently, IP Trace Tool is available as a web-based service. API access may be available in future versions.
Can I export or download the results?
You can copy the information directly from the results display. More export options may be added in the future.
